alhoewel ik me nu weer afvraag hoe zoiets marketingtechnisch werkt; de C4 is in 2007 al weer 3 jaar op de markt ...

Als ik me niet vergis moet er aan een groot aantal dingen voldaan worden voordat een personenauto een WRC mag worden. Weet niet meer precies de aantallen maar er moesten een bepaald auto's van verkocht worden etc... Nou zal dat met de C4 wel goed zitten want ik vind het wel een mooie auto. Maar 3 jaar is wel een beetje oud jah

misschien komt er nog wel eens een potentere C4 voor thuisgebruik op de markt, boven de huidige 2.0i-16V met 180 pk.

Yet unlike Peugeot, which has already announced it will switch its motorsports focus to an attempt at becoming the first manufacturer to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a diesel-powered prototype, Citroen has sustained it could return to rally’s top tier already in 2007.

Loeb, for his part, claimed he would prefer to run a privately-run Xsara in ‘06 to keep his ties to Citroen, assuming the manufacturer’s '07 return would indeed happen. According to the official WRC website, that scenario is looking increasingly likely as Citroen is already testing (with driver Philippe Bugalski) a Xsara with the 2007-spec - i.e., with simpler differentials and engines - technical package.

That “hybrid” Xsara would be available next year to privateers such as the OMV team that currently campaigns a Citroen for Manfred Stohl and the new Loeb-Gronholm squad, to be run by experienced sports car and rally team Oreca, winners of the 2003 Junior WRC title. Loeb’s personal sponsor Sony/PlayStation would be the new outfit’s major backer.

If that deal comes to fruition, Citroen would then be almost certain to return as an official works entry in '07, with Loeb and Gronholm steering the hardware tried and tested next year but wrapped by the body shell of the automaker’s C4 hatchback, which replaced the Xsara in the European market last year.

An immediate consequence of today’s World Motor Sport Council meeting in Rome, which, among other things, signaled a switch to a “winter” WRC season beginning in 2007/2008 (click here for story) has been the confirmation of Citroen’s planned return to the world championship in 2007.

Citroen and sister company Peugeot announced last year that, due to escalating costs, 2005 was to be their final season in the WRC. But while Peugeot later unveiled an attempt to become the first manufacturer ever to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a diesel-powered prototype, Citroen kept the door open for an ‘07 return if containing measures were introduced by the FIA.

"The new regulations allow us to meet our budget targets,” said Citroen Sport director Guy Frequelin. “There is no longer anything standing in the way of our return to the sport.

"For the team, for the fans and for all those who have supported us during our past three complete seasons in the World Rally Championship, this decision couldn't have come at a better time. I am delighted," Frequelin added.

Another consequence of Citroen’s decision is almost ensuring that reigning double world champion Sebastien Loeb will campaign a privateer-run Xsara next year, in order to keep his ties with the French manufacturer and lead the ‘07 charge aboard the all-new C4 WRC, whose prototype was first unveiled back in 2004.

voorzover ik het bij ons intern heb gehoord (Citroen Nederland)

schijnt het zo te zijn dat Citroen 2006 gewoon door gaat rijden in het WK

kan dit niet in een algemeen topic. nu zijn er al 2 of 3 topics over het seizoen 2006-2007-2008

En zelfs Guy Freqeulin blijft teambaas in 2007 bij Citroen! Dit sterkt mijn vermoedens dat t Playstation Citroen/Loeb priveteam, meer een fabrieksteam is dan een priveteam..

Loeb gaat in 2006 rijden bij 't Belgische Cronos team.

Pons wordt 2e rijder ; hierdoor kan Citroen gewoon meedoen bij het merkenkampioenschap.

Daarnaast gaat Loeb in 2006 intensief testen met de C4 WRC, die vanaf 2007 weer bij het officiele Citroen fabrieksteam zal worden ingezet.

Ook op de site van Kronos staat het bericht ook. Dus van geruchten is nu echt geen sprake meer. (Even ter verduidelijking).
