The first round of Lausitz Cup is over. Drivers scored after a fierce fight at seven special stages. Many of them retired. Undoubtedly, the favorite of Thermica Luzickie hory rally was the six times German rally champion Matthias Kahle. The driver, in a crew with Christian Doer, drove a Skoda Octavia WRC. Their rivals were Czechs Jerzy Tosovsky / Ernst Michał in a Lancer EVO IX, Dlouhy Ales / Martasek David (Subaru Impreza WRX Sti), the members of the new team Valar Motor Oil and a well known driver from Nachod, Karel Macek / Pavla Fricova - in a Toyota Corolla S2000.
The favorite from Germany was the leader of the rally until his engine failed on SS7. Even though Matthias finished the stage 2 minutes behind Wolski brothers in Fiat 126P, he retired immediately after the finish. Eventually, the winner was Jerzy Tosovski, who finished all the stages before Ales Dlouhy - Subaru Impreza WRX and Karel Macek - Toyota Corolla S2000. The fourth place was taken by Eric Karlsson in Audi TT. Slavek Šrejma and Radek Karhan in BMW 325 finished at the fifth position. The crew demolished a fence along the road at one of the stages and contiuned the run, unfortunately with a considerable time loss.
