The countdown for the 49th edition of the Sparkassen-DMV-Thuringen Rally 2010 is on - only six weeks remain for the organizer, the Motorsportclub Poessneck e.V., to prepare the Tarmac-Rally in the green heart of Germany. To convince the spectacular World Rally Cars, the best German rally drivers, the sunny weather and a big amount of spectators of the rally, the club sticks to his rally date in June - that means from 17th to 19th of June 2010 you can watch fast and coloured rally cars in the district Saale-Orla in Thuringen.
The organizers are especially proud to welcome the international drivers of the „Euro Rally Challenge"(ERC) once again in Poessneck. The rally trophy which was founded two years ago of the Dutch rally talents Erik Wevers and Mark van Eldik this year takes place each two times in Belgium and Germany as well as one time in the Netherlands. Most of all the champion of 2009, Erik Wevers, who is competing in 2010 with a Toyota Corolla WRC, surely wants to repeat his success. But even the two German teams of Marcus Hesse and Janina Depping plus the Dutch Jan van der Marel with his Porsche 911 GT3 are already on their starting blocks. Even the German Rally Series (DRS) will stop over at the Thuringen Rally once again in 2010, which will be the second out of seven races. 13 Teams, even from Denmark, registered for the Series already. Further well known eligibilities of the Thuringen Rally 2010 are the ADMV- and the Thuringer Rally Championship. The newly founded International Trabant Rally Championship surely will create a lot of fun among spectators, which will start next to the Thuringen Rally also in Poland and the Czech Republic.
To offer an attractive event to these different kinds of rally drivers, the MSC Poessneck e.V. made up some interesting things and is focusing on exciting news as well as traditions they had come to love: To start-over on Thursday evening the Shakedown takes place on a new track. On a distance of 5 km some rally fans might be able to experience rally feeling very close during a guest ride. For the first time in history of Thuringen Rally on Friday evening at 8 p.m. an A-to-B-stage with a tremendous length of 17 km will be driven prior to the traditional city circuit by night with fireworks in Poessneck, which start is scheduled for 10 p.m. on this evening. Drivers and co-drivers have to prove all their concentration and driving skills on this completely unknown and unbelievably challenging stage to participate in the following 5 rounds through the city centre of Poessneck. Mostly but not only because of extensive road works in the district Saale-Orla the organizer had to look for two brand-new special stages on Saturday, amongst others a circular special stage with an exhausting distance of 23 km. Also for these stages experienced rally co-drivers won't find any existing pace notes in their archives of 48 years of Thuringen Rally. All together the rally teams will have to fight on 134 selective and fast special stage kilometers with a quota of 99 % tarmac and for the first time in a while of 1 % gravel.
A huge marquee in the service park in the Lutschgenpark of Pößneck will provide rally teams and spectators with catering and entertainment, not only during the prize giving ceremony. Regulations and entry forms to register for the 49. Sparkassen-DMV-Thuringen Rally are available since 19th of April 2010. Again in 2010 spectators will have the possibility to buy rally Top-Tickets in advance via the internet. All these things and further information as well as a 3-minute trailer of the Thuringen Rally 2009, to increase the anticipation in this year, you can find on the newly designed website www.thueringen-rallye.com.
